GetMyInvoices has several interfaces with well-known accounting software providers. In our interview series we would like to introduce you to some of the providers and their software. This week we want to do this at this point Run my accounts imagine an accounting program that reads receipts and automatically re-books bank accounts.
Who had the idea for Run my Accounts and, above all, why?
Back in 1999, the founder of Run my Accounts AG, Thomas Brändle, was annoyed by the tedious work of bookkeeping in his role as CFO of a fast-growing startup: typing numbers, sorting receipts, preparing payments, reconciling bank accounts and looking for even the smallest differences .
He would have much preferred to concentrate on evaluating the numbers rather than spending hours of hard work recording them. Receipts should only be read and processed digitally. After a few years of development, Run my Accounts AG was founded in 2008: the simplest accounting for medium-sized companies.
What was your biggest challenge in building Run my Accounts?
The positioning in the market, which was previously dominated by the classic tax advisor. First of all, a rethink had to take place on all sides: Accountants in the 21st century are very IT-oriented, which is associated with higher demands on the training of employees.
In your opinion, how will the world of accountants and tax advisors change in the next few years?
Digitalization will increase the training requirements for employees in this industry. In the future, it will be much more about interfaces and compatibility of different IT systems than just pure accounting. Skills in both areas or in combination are required.
In addition to booking receipts, what other options for automation or cost reduction do you see for SMEs?
Not only digital accounting, but a completely digital document management system offers great potential for cost reduction and automation.
Which companies should hire their own accountant? Which definitely not?
Once a company reaches a certain size, so many employees are affected by day-to-day accounting that it is worthwhile to have your own accountant as an internal contact. Experience has shown that this size is around 200 employees.
Startups and SMEs, on the other hand, are not advised to hire their own accountant.
How do you know when you should switch to Run my Accounts?
You can tell you need to switch to Run my Accounts because you have lost track of your numbers. Anyone who has ever had to make decisions based on outdated figures from their tax advisor will greatly appreciate our up-to-date accounting.
